Unless you’re part of a study abroad program or a wealthy jet-setter, chances are you don’t have the time or money to fly to Munich for Oktoberfest. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy beer, bratwurst and all the associated festivities. Drive up the hill to Lake Arrowhead to celebrate right here in the United States—where you can party without the hassle and cost of a trip to Europe.
Lake Arrowhead Village is arguably the best, most authentic Oktoberfest in Southern California. This year’s event kicks off on in a genuine Alpine Village, complete with authentic food and free entertainment, on Saturday and Sunday, September 28 – October 27, 2013. For Southern California residents, the perfect locale for celebrating Oktoberfest is the pine-covered mountains surrounding Lake Arrowhead Village.
Often referred to as the jewel of Southern California, Lake Arrowhead is the closest thing in the Inland Empire to Europe in beauty and old world charm. This has made it the perfect place to celebrate the time-honored tradition of Oktoberfest! Don’t miss out on this year’s free events:
- Free games for young and old
- Polka contests
- The Chicken Dance
- Entertainment
- Beer (for the first time ever, the Upper Peninsula in the Village will be completely open so you can walk around freely with your drink in hand!)
- We will offer more German brews than any other festival in Southern California.
- Enjoy authentic German food, cars and more.
Since the temperatures are a bit on the cold side, you might want to duck in from the cold and dine at Belgian Waffle Works while you’re on the mountain. Located in Lake Arrowhead, dockside, we offer a magnificent lake view as well as a variety of hot food and drinks to help you celebrate Oktoberfest in grand style.
We are open 7 days a week. Our fall hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. So you won’t have to wait until the weekend to enjoy great beer. We carry domestic beers in addition to an impressive selection of craft beers, such as Beck Dark Beer and a full lineup from Hangar 24 Brewery. We also feature a Hanger 24 special release called Oktoberfest as well as Gourdgeous Beer. Our regular menu includes a Northern Germany-inspired Alt-Bier, IPA and a delicious Orange Wheat. We are proud to offer Ritzman Riesling & Gewurztraminer wines from Germany. And one of our best selling lunch or early dinner items is a “Beer Brat,” which is served on a pretzel bun with grilled sauerkraut.
Belgian Waffle Works is a full-service family restaurant featuring 17 original specialty Belgian-style waffles, homemade soups, fresh market salads, gourmet sandwiches, juicy burgers, homemade breads, Espresso, Cappuccino, premium desserts, wine, beer, specialty drinks and more. In fact, this year, our menu will include fondue. Belgian Waffle Works’ waffles are made from an exclusive mix, which is available for sale onsite and online. Come join us for breakfast, lunch or dinner. You’ll be glad you did!
